Mothra – Original 1961 Motion Picture Soundtrack features the classic score composed by Yūji Koseki for the iconic 1961 Toho kaiju film.

The film introduced Mothra, one of the most beloved monsters in the Toho universe. The story follows the kidnapping of the Shobijin twins from Infant Island, whose psychic connection summons the colossal guardian Mothra to rescue them. Unlike many kaiju films of the era, Mothra is portrayed as a protector rather than a destructive force.

Koseki’s score blends dramatic orchestral themes with eerie electronic textures and traditional choral elements. Throughout the soundtrack, the twin singers known as The Peanuts perform the iconic Mothra song, giving the film one of the most recognisable musical motifs in the history of Japanese monster cinema.

This deluxe edition from Waxwork Records presents the complete 1961 soundtrack on vinyl for the very first time, created in collaboration with Toho and featuring newly commissioned artwork.
