Warrington-Runcorn New Town Development Plan - People & Industry returns in a deluxe special edition CD reissue from Castles in Space, revisiting the project's second album with redesigned artwork and four bonus tracks, including two previously unavailable on CD.

Originally released in September 2021, People & Industry continues Gordon Chapman-Fox's exploration of Britain's post-war industrial landscape, combining nostalgic electronic soundscapes with reflections on the social and economic changes that have shaped the country's towns and communities.

The album celebrates the workers and industries that once flourished around Warrington, Widnes and Runcorn during the late 1970s. From coal mining and chemical production to car manufacturing, the region was a thriving centre of British industry. Although some of those businesses remain, much of the landscape has changed dramatically over the intervening decades.

Blending atmospheric synthesisers, melodic sequences and evocative electronic arrangements, People & Industry captures both the optimism of industrial progress and the bittersweet nostalgia of looking back at a very different Britain.

Reflecting on the album five years after its original release, Chapman-Fox describes rediscovering musical ideas and creative decisions that had been overshadowed by the success of his debut, Interim Report March 1979. Revisiting the recordings renewed his appreciation for the album and inspired him to explore several compositions in new ways.

This expanded edition brings together the original nine-track album and four bonus tracks. The two bonus tracks included on the original CD are joined by reworked material developed through Chapman-Fox's live performances across the UK and Europe.

Among the additions is a new live version of "Polytechnic", alongside "Standard Industrial Classification", a piece originating from music composed for the online FoxFest event during lockdown. The additional material reflects the increasingly rhythmic, beat-driven approach that has developed through the project's live performances.

Presented in a digisleeve with redesigned artwork by Gordon Chapman-Fox, this special edition offers an expanded opportunity to explore one of Warrington-Runcorn New Town Development Plan's formative albums.
