The Wraith - Original Motion Picture Score by Michael Hoenig and J. Peter Robinson finally receives its first-ever physical media release, bringing the cult 1986 film’s synth-driven soundtrack to vinyl for the first time.
Directed by Mike Marvin, The Wraith follows a mysterious, otherworldly driver who appears in a small desert town, targeting a gang of street racers tied to a brutal killing. What begins as revenge quickly reveals something far more supernatural, blending action, horror and sci-fi into a cult favourite of the era.
The score leans heavily into atmospheric electronics, built from pulsing synths, tension-filled textures and neon-soaked ambience that perfectly captures the film’s night-time desert aesthetic. Michael Hoenig, known for his work with Tangerine Dream, and J. Peter Robinson craft a sound that sits somewhere between cinematic tension and 1980s electronic futurism.
Sourced from the original master tapes and mastered for vinyl by Collin Jordan at the Boiler Room, this release presents the complete score across 21 tracks, delivering a long-overdue physical edition for collectors and soundtrack fans alike.
