Cellar Dweller, the offshoot imprint of Terror Vision, presents the first-ever physical release of Martin Gauthier's score for the cult horror film Slashers.
Slashers (directed by Maurice Devereaux, 2001) follows Japan’s number one extreme reality show as it launches its first all-American special. Six contestants, chosen from thousands of applicants, compete for a massive cash prize — with the only rule being that they must survive. The result is a brutal televised spectacle where Americans hunt Americans in a twisted game show setting.
The film blends elements of survival horror and dark satire, recalling the energy of films and games such as Squid Game, The Running Man, Manhunt, 31, and Battle Royale.
Martin Gauthier’s score mirrors the film’s chaotic tone, jumping between sleazy television stings, pulsing techno rhythms and icy synth-driven horror cues. The result is a soundtrack that moves between parody and menace, deliberately shifting tone as the action unfolds.
Drawing inspiration from composers such as John Carpenter, Harry Manfredini and Richard Band, the music balances stripped-down electronics with sharp bursts of tension and dark atmosphere.
The score has been newly remastered from the original tapes by Nick Bassett and pressed in an extremely limited vinyl edition.
