The second entry in Carpenter’s legendary “Apocalypse Trilogy”, nestled between The Thing and In The Mouth Of Madness, Prince Of Darkness explores the arrival of the Anti-Christ through the lens of science, antimatter, and theoretical physics. Though under-appreciated on release, the film has since earned a devoted cult following through home video and late-night rewatches.

Carpenter and Howarth’s score feels like a dream colliding with a nightmare. The main title theme immediately sets the tone, pairing ethereal voices with a classic Carpenter bassline to create a sense of eerie unease. Dissonant synth textures clash with more melodic passages, perfectly reflecting the collision between our world and the realm of the Anti-God.
