Metallica – Master of Puppets is the band’s landmark third studio album and widely regarded as one of the greatest heavy metal records ever made.
Released in 1986, the album was produced by Flemming Rasmussen and recorded at Sweet Silence Studios in Copenhagen. It was the final Metallica album to feature legendary bassist Cliff Burton, whose melodic bass playing and compositional contributions helped shape the band’s most ambitious and sophisticated work.
Master of Puppets expanded Metallica’s sound with longer song structures, intricate arrangements, and darker lyrical themes exploring control, addiction, war, and manipulation. The album includes some of the band’s most iconic tracks including “Battery”, “Master of Puppets”, and the instrumental fan favourite “Orion.”
Decades after its release, Master of Puppets remains a defining moment in thrash metal and a cornerstone of Metallica’s legacy.
