Death Magnetic is the ninth studio album by Metallica, originally released in 2008.

Produced by Rick Rubin, the album marked a return to the band’s faster, more aggressive thrash metal roots following the experimental direction of their previous release. It was also the first Metallica studio album to feature bassist Robert Trujillo after joining the band in 2003.

Death Magnetic features some of the band’s most notable modern-era tracks including The Day That Never Comes, Cyanide, All Nightmare Long, and The Unforgiven III, combining long-form song structures with the heavy riffs and complex arrangements that helped define Metallica’s classic sound.
