Kickboxer - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack brings the music from the cult 1989 martial arts classic starring Jean-Claude Van Damme to limited edition orange vinyl, combining Paul Hertzog's atmospheric electronic score with the rock and vocal tracks that helped give the film its unmistakable late-'80s character.

Released in 1989, Kickboxer became one of the defining films of Van Damme's early career. Van Damme stars as Kurt Sloane, who travels to Thailand with his brother Eric, an American kickboxing champion determined to prove himself against the fearsome Muay Thai fighter Tong Po. After Eric is brutally injured in the ring, Kurt seeks out the reclusive trainer Xian Chow and begins an arduous training regime in preparation for a fight with Tong Po.

From its training sequences and exotic Thai locations to the climactic showdown, Kickboxer has become an enduring favourite among fans of 1980s martial arts cinema. Van Damme's combination of athleticism, elaborate fight choreography and considerable flexibility helped cement his status as one of the era's great action stars, while Tong Po became one of the most memorable villains of his early films.

A major part of the film's identity comes from composer Paul Hertzog, who had previously provided the music for Van Damme's breakthrough hit Bloodsport. Hertzog's music combines synthesizers, electronic percussion and atmospheric melodies with more dramatic action cues, moving from the mystery of Kurt's surroundings to the determination of his training and the tension of the film's increasingly brutal fights.

The soundtrack also embraces the gloriously unmistakable sound of late-'80s action cinema with a selection of vocal tracks, including music performed by Stan Bush. His contributions include Streets of Siam, Fight for Love and the anthemic Never Surrender, with the songs sitting alongside Hertzog's instrumental score to create a soundtrack that is inseparable from the film's training montages, fights and larger-than-life atmosphere.

This limited edition is pressed on orange vinyl and is limited to 1,000 copies.
