Jaws 2 marked the first sequel score of John Williams' career. Building upon the unmistakable shark motif he created for Steven Spielberg's original Jaws, Williams expanded the musical world considerably for the sequel, combining the familiar sense of approaching danger with energetic action writing and sweeping music capturing both the excitement and menace of the open sea.

Arriving after Williams' landmark scores for Star Wars and Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Jaws 2 finds the composer working with the full power of the symphony orchestra. Rather than simply repeating the musical language of the original film, the score develops its established themes while introducing new material and a broader orchestral palette for the sequel.

The newly discovered 16-track masters were transferred at 192kHz/24-bit high resolution before being meticulously restored, remixed and remastered by Mike Matessino. The finished presentation was approved by John Williams.

CD 1 contains the complete score presentation together with a collection of bonus material, including newly discovered alternate cues. CD 2 features a fully rebuilt and remastered version of the original 1978 soundtrack album, providing both presentations of Williams' score in one definitive 2CD set.

The package is completed by a 20-page booklet featuring an updated version of Scott Bettencourt's original essay together with a new "Tech Talk" section by Mike Matessino detailing the restoration and reconstruction of the score.
