Directed by Jonathan Demme and starring Jodie Foster, Anthony Hopkins and Scott Glenn, the film was an instant critical and commercial success, winning five Academy Awards including Best Picture, Director, Screenplay and acting awards for both Foster and Hopkins.

Already renowned for his work in both horror and psychological thrillers, Howard Shore delivers a score that is dark, operatic and deeply atmospheric - far removed from traditional genre expectations.

This edition presents the complete expanded score alongside additional material, produced by Neil S. Bulk, supervised by Shore himself, and mastered from the original session tapes. Performed by the Munich Symphony Orchestra under the direction of the composer, this release also includes in-depth liner notes by Jeff Bond.
