Facelift is the debut studio album from Alice In Chains, originally released by Columbia Records in August 1990. Blending heavy metal with the darker textures that would come to define the emerging Seattle sound, the album helped establish the band as one of the key acts of the early '90s alternative and grunge movement.
The record features several of the band’s most recognisable tracks including “We Die Young”, “Man In The Box”, “Sea Of Sorrow”, and “Bleed The Freak”. “Man In The Box” earned a Grammy nomination for Best Hard Rock Performance in 1992.
Facelift also made history as the first album from the Seattle grunge scene to achieve Gold certification, doing so in September 1991.
