midsommar-original-motion-picture-soundtrack-lp-vinyl
Midsommar - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack LP Vinyl

Midsommar - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack features the haunting and atmospheric score composed by Bobby Krlic, also known as The Haxan Cloak, for Ari Aster's acclaimed 2019 folk horror film.

Written and directed by Ari Aster, Midsommar stars Florence Pugh and Jack Reynor as a couple whose troubled relationship takes an increasingly disturbing turn during a trip to rural Sweden. Accompanied by a group of friends, they attend a remote midsummer festival held only once every 90 years, gradually discovering the sinister rituals and traditions of an isolated pagan community.

Celebrated for its striking cinematography, unsettling atmosphere and unconventional approach to horror, Midsommar has established itself as a modern cult classic. Unlike traditional horror films that rely heavily on darkness and shadows, Aster's disturbing vision unfolds largely in broad daylight, creating an eerie contrast between the beauty of the Swedish countryside and the horrors concealed beneath its idyllic appearance.

Music plays a central role in establishing this atmosphere. Rather than relying on conventional horror scoring techniques, Bobby Krlic creates an immersive soundscape that moves between delicate melodies, expansive orchestral arrangements and deeply unsettling experimental textures.

Known for his work as The Haxan Cloak and collaborations with artists including Björk, Goldfrapp, Father John Misty and Troye Sivan, Krlic brings his distinctive approach to electronic and experimental music into the world of film composition.

Across twelve compositions, the soundtrack captures the film's gradual descent from pastoral beauty into psychological terror. Ethereal harmonies, ominous drones and ritualistic musical passages intertwine, creating a powerful sense of unease even during the score's most beautiful moments.

From the foreboding opening of "Prophesy" to the extraordinary closing composition "Fire Temple", the music traces the emotional and psychological transformation at the heart of the film, culminating in a dramatic and unforgettable finale.

This 2026 reissue is presented as a limited edition of 1,000 individually machine-numbered copies, pressed on 140g "May Queen" Splatter vinyl.
